Project Overview
Simplus, a trusted mutual fund consultancy with 25+ years of success, approached us to design and build a new-generation web app that could automate manual tasks, reduce operational overheads, and provide investors with a seamless, intelligent digital experience. Their goal was simple yet ambitious: eliminate noise, streamline processes, and empower both investors and their team through automation and clarity.
The Challenge
Simplus’s existing operational workflow was heavily manual—staff had to assist with KYC processes, coordinate OTPs, validate documents, answer repetitive investor queries, and manage portfolio updates individually. Their old app was overloaded with unnecessary fields, confusing investors and increasing support tickets. The challenge was to deeply understand their unique investment philosophy, design a system that automates everything possible, meet strict financial compliance standards, and at the same time offer investors a frictionless, intuitive experience.
Research
Before any design or development work, we embarked on an intense research phase:
Deep-Dive Client Workshops: Multiple sessions to decode Simplus’s unique investment principles and day-to-day operations.

Our Solution
We proposed and delivered a Web App Ecosystem that included:
Investor Portal: A simple, smart interface for investors to manage KYC, invest in SIPs or Lumpsum, redeem funds, and track portfolios at a glance.
Admin Dashboard: A comprehensive backend control center to handle KYC validation, investments, reallocations, client communication, FAQs, and real-time insights.
Automation-First Design: Automating every possible process—from onboarding, document validation, OTP verifications, FAQs to portfolio updates.
Integrated CRM: Built-in CRM tools within the Admin dashboard to manage and track customer queries and interactions effortlessly.
Security-First Approach: Full compliance with financial security standards and best practices, including encryption, two-factor authentication, and cybersecurity audits.
Execution
The execution of the Simplus Web App was carried out through a structured, research-first approach with a clear focus on aligning business goals with technology, usability, and regulatory compliance. This wasn’t just about building a platform—it was about solving real operational inefficiencies and creating a scalable digital ecosystem. Here's how we executed it step-by-step:
1. Discovery & Requirement Mapping
We initiated the project with multiple deep-dive sessions alongside the Simplus leadership and operational teams. The primary goal was to decode their non-traditional investment philosophy and document every manual process that slowed them down—from KYC, onboarding, reallocation, to redemption flows. We mapped every user journey in detail, collected compliance requirements specific to the mutual fund sector, and most importantly, identified the unnecessary frictions that needed to be eliminated. This discovery phase laid a strong foundation for everything that followed.
2. System Architecture & Process Planning
Based on the discovery insights, we engineered a robust system architecture that was capable of handling the scale, security, and real-time requirements of Simplus. The focus was on creating a clear separation between investor and admin workflows, defining the core backend services, determining secure communication layers, and integrating role-based access controls. We prepared detailed flowcharts, data diagrams, and process documentation that would later guide both design and development.
3. UI/UX Design
UI/UX wasn’t just about making the app look good; it was about ensuring that even a first-time investor could navigate it without hand-holding. We designed a minimal yet powerful interface. Unnecessary fields and confusing data dumps that plagued their older app were eliminated. Instead, we introduced simplified KYC flows, easy-to-understand investment dashboards, clear navigation for SIPs and Lumpsums, and intuitive calculators and reallocation planners. A dedicated admin interface was also crafted to give the Simplus team complete control over CRM management, reports, communication, and operational workflows. Every design was rigorously tested internally for friction points before being approved.
4. Web App Development
We followed an agile development process to incrementally build and test each module. The development was divided into two major verticals:

5. API Integrations & Security
Integrated third-party APIs for KYC verifications, PAN verification, mutual fund NAVs, and transaction management.
Applied full data encryption, secure authentication protocols, and layered cyber protection across the app.
Conducted API research to select government-compliant, reliable, and high-speed APIs ensuring seamless investor experiences.
6. Testing & Government Compliance
We followed a strict testing protocol that included multiple layers: internal QA, UAT with Simplus’s internal team, external cybersecurity testing with our partners, and final verification against Indian government financial standards. Every module—whether critical like KYC or auxiliary like forum management—was tested across functionality, security, and regulatory compliance checklists. Only after receiving green signals from all sides did we move toward launch.
7. Launch & Support
Conducted a soft launch with selected investor groups to monitor real-time performance and stress levels.
Implemented post-launch support mechanisms including real-time server monitoring, crash analytics, and investor feedback surveys.
Trained the Simplus internal team through interactive sessions and provided manuals and workflows for easier adaptation to the new system.
Why We Took This Path
We chose a web-first approach (instead of native app development) because Simplus’s user base required a universally accessible platform that worked across devices without forcing downloads. Given the financial nature of operations, users often accessed investment platforms from multiple devices—desktop at work, mobile on the go. A responsive web app delivered seamless accessibility without compromising on security or performance. Moreover, a centralized admin dashboard allowed Simplus to operate, automate, and manage their consulting business digitally without any operational friction.
